Purpose / Role

Electrical Project Engineer
To work as part of a team To deliver projects within time, quality and budget

Prime Responsibilities & Duties

To take full technical, commercial and operational responsibility for the successful and profitable execution
of contracts
To ensure reliable and contractual performance in the day to day implementation of contracts
To provide full and effective support for site teams by ensuring efficient co-ordination / management of
supply chain
To ensure accurate and prompt submission of invoices and cost plans in order to provide reliable forecasts
for financial accounting and other documentation
To monitor and control all costs associated with each contract and provide information and feedback to
senior management
To ensure the works are carried out in accordance with current Health and Safety legislation
Sequence and programme works
Have knowledge of programme types
Production of procurement schedules
Production of pre-construction programmes, construction programmes, commissioning programmes and
have an understanding of interfaces and co-ordination with other disciplines and contractors
Be capable of managing sub-contractors
Production of invitations to tender and evaluation of returned tenders
Establishing work scope, specifications, programmes and cost control of sub-contracted works
Understanding of specifications and drawings
Understanding of the contract and contract conditions and obligations
Work with other disciplines, clients, sub-contractors and vendors to produce a successful programme
Have an understanding of and be able to contribute to Total Risk Management
Ability to survey and report on existing installations
Have an understanding of current building regulations, codes of practice and legislative requirements
Ability to check drawings for accuracy and buildability
Seek advice from specialists as required
Maintain manual or computerised schedules as required
Undertake site and works visits as required by the execution of his / her duties
Production of risk assessments and methods of work to comply with the Health and Safety requirements and
Control and monitor the production of site labour
Take off and requisition materials in a timeous manner
Work with the quantity surveyor to produce the costs on any variations
Monitor and report on programme and progress
Report on all aspects of the contract under his / her control
Read, understand and implement the documents
Read, understand and implement the Company Safety Policy and the arrangements described within the
safety management system documents

City & Guilds Recognised Qualifications


At least 3 years post technical apprenticeship experience preferably gained within a building services

Currently or have worked on projects ranging from £500k to £2m
Delivered successful projects both programme and commercial
Programme and sequence of Electrical services

Likely Current Role:
3 Years’ experience of contracting work
Office and site experience
Previously held a similar position
Experience of being in charge of a minimum of ten- twelve members of staff
Worked on contracts with an M&E value ranging from £500k to £2m
Capable of programming and planning
Basic skills and knowledge of AutoCAD and the ability to read and interpret drawings
Ability to produce reports
Experience in production of O&M manuals and drawings
Capable of working with minimum supervision
Ability and willingness to travel and work within the office or based on sites as required
Adept with Microsoft Office programmes
Good literacy and numeracy skills essential
Ability to meet deadlines
Excellent communication skills
Ability to produce and deliver presentations
