Chris Walker

Trades & Labour Resourcer

Chris joined Pier in October 2018 and is the Resourcer for the Trades & Labour department.  This means he is responsible for supplying candidates for our construction clients’ temporary and permanent roles. He ensures workers have up to date compliance documents, qualifications and have passed their reference checks.  Chris’ responsibility also covers liaising with the site teams to ensure all workers arriving at site are fully aware of where they need to go and what their role will be. Last but certainly not least, he ensures time sheets are collected by the weekly deadline so that everyone gets paid on time for their hard work

Out Of Hours:

When not in the office Chris can be found scoring tries on the rugby pitch for Bridgend Sports as a Winger, or trying to catch some shut eye after being kept awake all night by his baby boy!

Laura Oliver

Operations Administrator and Credit Controller

Laura is behind the scenes in Pier keeping things ticking over in the back office. She comes from a Sales background in the Travel industry but before selling trips to far flung destinations she went on them herself, living in New Zealand where she first got involved in recruitment.

As Operations Administrator, she uses her organisational skills and eye for detail to improve our in-house processes and set up new and exciting projects. From updating our social media platforms and writing articles for our website to improving our database and spreadsheets, updating policies according to the latest law changes or creating new internal documents. No day is the same! She also manages credit control and is the friendly voice of our social media accounts.

Out Of Hours:

When not posting articles and GIFs on our Facebook page Laura can be found curled up on the sofa with a good book, covered in furry animals. Once the sun comes out she enjoys walks on the coast but is always day-dreaming about her next adventure abroad. In 2017 she managed to visit Malaysia, Burma, St Lucia, Barbados, Australia and Czech Republic!

Sophie James

M&E Resourcer

Sophie has been with Pier Consulting since 2017. She is the resourcer for our biggest department (M&E)

Sophie is responsible for making sure we get the right candidates for all our client’s mechanical and electrical positions. That means not only finding the right person, but vetting them to ensure they are suitably qualified, compliant and reliable workers to boot. And it doesn’t stop there; she is the one giving out directions to site, reminding workers what tools they need, getting their signed time sheets in and dealing with any issues.

She also reminds our workers when their cards are due to expire and manages the booking of qualification renewals and all the online and attended courses we offer through Pier Resources & Training 

Out Of Hours:

When not in the office winding up the boss, Sophie can be found playing netball with her team or drinking and eating on the weekend with friends. She loves spending time with her family (her dog in particular) and is always thinking about her next night out or break away

Sheryn Spear


Sheryn has been with Pier Consulting for five years. She takes on the role of the office Receptionist where she is the first point of contact. Her role involves directing the calls to the right department, ensuring queries are dealt with immediately and passing all calls to the relevant person.

Sheryn also deals with administration within Pier Consulting. This includes setting up placements on our database for tradesmen starting work with us and playing a part in the payroll process, aiding with getting the invoices sent out to the clients accurately and on time.


Out Of Hours:

When not in the office discussing last night’s episode of Love Island, Sheryn can be found spending her weekends at the ice rink or cinema with her little boy who is 9 years old.

Once he’s is tucked up in bed, Sheryn likes to settle down with a good box set and a chocolate bar, presently The Walking Dead and a Cadbury Whole Nut. She also enjoys spending time with friends and family, especially her most recent nephew.

Rebecca Sparks

Finance Officer

Rebecca has been with Pier Consulting since August 2015, coming to us from a Solicitors firm. Rebecca has a good eye for detail and has brought with her many years of computer skills which can help her deal with the tasks she is now taking on within the day to day running of the company. Rebecca manages our weekly payroll and ensures that the time sheets are collected every week and payroll runs smoothly so our workers are paid correctly without any queries. She also deals with our accounts payable and all the finance admin that comes with running a recruitment company. Rebecca is keen to do her best and is always looking to improve her skills and take on new challenges within the company.




Out Of Hours:

When Rebecca is not busy tapping away at her keyboard she can be found attending fitness classes as a form of keep fit. She also enjoys drawing and spending time with her family and friends or walking her dog Buzz along the beautiful Welsh coastline.

Philippa George

CEO Pier Consulting Ltd and Director of Pier associated companies

Following college Philippa trained as a Psychiatric Nurse which she believes has proved invaluable in the business world!

Attracted to a career in business, Philippa left the NHS to work for BASF’s computer division, which lead to senior executive roles in the IT Recruitment Industry.

In 1991 Philippa met and married Glyn George and formed The G Force Partnership, developing a multi-specialist recruitment company within the Engineering, Construction, IT and Industrial sectors.

In 2002 G Force was acquired by the Acorn Group and Philippa joined Glyn in early retirement, during which time Philippa enjoyed International Consultancy projects in sales and marketing.

In 2004 Philipa came out of retirement and formed a R2R agency – Pinpoint Elite, which Philippa developed into a permanent multi-sector agency.  In 2010 Pinpoint Elite made the acquisition of a Construction and M&E agency, rebranding the business as Pier Consulting.

Throughout her career in recruitment, Philippa has taken an active role in the REC with the firm belief in quality standards and best practice.  Philippa became Regional Director for REC Wales in 2008.

In 2014 Philippa resigned as MD of Pier Consulting in favour of the board appointment of Paul Ingram as MD and shareholder.  In her new role as CEO Philippa is still involved in Pier Consulting.

Out Of Hours:

Passionate about animals and animal welfare, Philippa’s first love is her Scottish Terriers. Business interests in tourism and involvement in local tourist associations take up much of her leisure time.

Paul Ingram

Managing Director of Pier Consulting Ltd and Director of Pier associated companies

Paul Ingram took over the role of Pier Consulting Managing Director in April 2013, bringing with him over 20 years of recruitment experience within the construction industry.

Paul has built a very successful place in the M & E Building Service sector, with his specialist recruitment expertise. Paul is committed to ensuring his team provides the best possible recruits to fit the needs of each client.

Paul’s drive, determination and passion for recruitment excellence has seen the company grow rapidly. Paul’s vision is for Pier Consulting to become a company that adds true value to its clients businesses, forging long term relationships with  both clients and workforce and  be the best by providing the best.

Out Of Hours:

When not in the office with his mobile permanently glued to his ear, Paul can be found on the side of a rugby or football pitch supporting his two boys, or being dragged around the shops with his daughter.  If he’s lucky, he also manages to squeeze in the odd pint of Guinness at his local.

Glyn George

Director Pier Consulting and associated companies

With a background in Engineering, Glyn’s reputation soon led to projects across the world including Nuclear and non-Nuclear Power Stations, Oil Refineries and Oil Riggs. As a project leader Glyn was responsible for recruiting teams to work overseas.

In 1991 Glyn met Philippa – an IT recruitment manager (who later became his wife), from which their first joint venture was formed – G Force Recruitment.

Glyn’s extensive experience of welders and skilled tradespeople, along with contacts across the engineering sector, was the foundation of the newly formed business. Glyn still has his ‘little black book’ from which he recruited his first team.  Through G Force IT division, Glyn was introduced to Brown and Route, resulting in a 5 year contract for the Ministry of Defence to supply security cleared specialist welders and associated trades for Naval Dockyard projects.

Glyn remains a director of Pier Consulting and its associated companies, as well as being a main board member.  Glyn still supports Pier Consulting’s recruitment staff with his wealth of knowledge and contacts in the Engineering Sector and his ‘little black book’!

Out Of Hours:

Glyn, a country man at heart, enjoys wildlife and supports the cultivation of areas to encourage and sustain it.  You will often find him spending time in his ‘man shed’ pottering  around with his collection of tools and gadgets.

Michaela Little

Group Finance Manager

Michaela brings over 10 years’ recruitment industry experience to Pier Consulting, managing the Group’s finances and accounts. Michaela has enjoyed many varied roles in her career from recruiting the trades for the clients, to ensuring the workforce is compliant and adhering to legislation, to running the payroll ensuring all workers are paid correctly, however with a good head for figures and a keen eye for detail and absolute correctness Michaela has now found her true forte. She ensures that the company’s finances are in order, reconciling all accounts within the Group, budgeting each month to run in line with company financial predictions and managing the business liabilities to the HMRC.

Michaela also manages the back-office team ensuring we run a tight ship in the paperwork we send out to our clients and temporary workers making sure it is correct and on time, the payroll deadlines are met and keeping a keen eye on the credit control to ensure that the company trades within set Credit limits, working closely with the bank and credit controllers to work with the clients that we trade with.


Out Of Hours:

When she is not working hard in the office Michaela can be found running around after her young son, another baby boy also in tow and spoiling them both rotten with clothes, toys and treats galore. She also dedicates a lot of her time to taking part in as many charity runs as she can fit in to raise funds for charities close to her heart – The Hospice of St Francis and Bowel Cancer UK. She also manages to find the time to fit the girls in with a night on the dance floor occasionally.
